Senior BackEnd Engineer

Location: Spain (Remote)

We are looking for an experienced engineer willing to be part of the processes of creation/review of the company API. Your primary focus will be the study and review of the current product, not only at design level but also in the technological side, and take the ownership for the following developments to cover more services we want to implement, interacting with stakeholders to know the needs of the API extension, and your coworkers. A basic understanding of back-end technologies is therefore necessary as well. You are able to stay on the leading edge of development and in the future could mentor a team of developers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Study and review current API implementation.
  • Lead the API development, communications, and extensions.
  • Building, deploying and maintaining Restful APIs and their communication with the down-stream systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, analysts, product specialists, and other software engineers.
  • Analyze system specifications and translate system requirements to task specifications for junior programmers if applicable.
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Provide assistance to testers and support personnel as needed to resolve the system problems.

Job Competencies & Personal Attributes:

  • Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming language PHP with Laravel Framework is a must. (Required)
  • You have 3+ years of experience with object oriented, TDD programming. (Required)
  • You have 5+ years experience building back-end RESTful web services. (Required)
  • Knowledge of SQL / Postgresql.  (Required)
  • Knowledge of web security, application security, web services security, common vulnerability remediation, certificate management  (Required)
  • Degree in computer science or related field. (Required)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git. (Required)
  • Data migration, transformation, and scripting.
  • Outputting data in different formats.
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

You might also have:

  • Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
  • Appreciation for clean and well documented code.
  • English fluency to document, communicate and present the work.
  • Knowledge about GIS, maps libraries as Openlayers, and PostGis.
  • You have great adaptation capabilities, flexibility, and resilience in a very dynamic and challenging context.
  • You are proactive and you identify potential blockers in advance and you can plan your activities accordingly.
  • You solve problems with a pragmatic approach balancing best practices and speed.
  • You are a team player willing to share information and coordinate with your team.
