Written by Juan Vicente Beneitez Lajas | 12/Nov/20

A new project in Fields4Ever

Bodegas Barbadillo will take action to recover the soil health through the project "definition of the functional soil profile for vineyards".

Project explanation

Samples required and project description

This project includes 36 soil samples. 20 of the soil samples are supported by the Fields4Ever Initiative to help define the functional soil profile for the vineyards of Bodegas Barbadillo.

Description

This project aims to define the microbial profile of the soil in Barbadillo vineyards and to know the influence of this on their plantations. Biome Makers methodology will be elaborated on a diagnosis of the soil based on the functionality of the existing microbiome.

Methodology

BeCrop technology will be applied to analyze the soil microbiome to define the microbial profile of the soil in vineyards and to know the influence of this on its plantations. For this purpose, this analysis of soil bioactivity control will be carried out in two locations (Gibaldín and Santa Lucía) - Spain, divided into plots according to the variety cultivated. For the analysis of the cultivation, a single time will be considered, coinciding with the vegetative development of the vineyard.

Goals

  • Define the microbial profile of the soil in the vineyards and know the influence of this.
  • Understand the presence of pathogens, biocontrol agents, and plant growth promoters, to make agronomic decisions in this respect, optimizing resources and time.
  • Describe the metabolic cycles related to the available macro and micronutrients.
